At ELKA CLINIC, brow design begins with your existing brows and the result you want. Assessment, discussion and pre-drawing help us plan the shape before pigment is applied. The aim is balance that suits your face, while preserving suitable natural brow characteristics.

A separate consultation is optional. Brow assessment, discussion and pre-drawing can take place as part of your treatment appointment. If you would prefer to explore the design beforehand, you can book an optional consultation. Previous tattooing or an individual concern may need assessment before proceeding.

Start with your brows and preferences

Tell us what you would like to keep and what you would like to change: sparse areas, uneven tails, the arch, overall fullness or the amount of definition. Reference photographs can help explain your preferences, but another person’s brow shape is not a template for your face.

We consider your natural brow pattern, existing hair, facial features and asymmetry alongside your preferred finish. Skin characteristics and any previous tattoo also influence what is suitable. Shape, colour and technique are considered together.

Pre-drawing makes the design visible

A drawn design gives you something concrete to discuss before tattooing: where the brow starts, how the arch sits, how far the tail extends and how much fullness feels comfortable. Measurements can support planning, while the artist also considers how the brows relate to your features and natural expression.

The discussion is collaborative. You can ask questions and discuss adjustments to the proposed shape before proceeding. A pencil design helps communicate placement and style; it does not reproduce exactly how pigment will look once healed.

Balance does not mean identical brows

Natural faces have asymmetry. Brow height, hair growth and muscle movement can differ from one side to the other. The aim is a balanced design that works with those differences, rather than forcing mathematically identical brows onto an individual face.

Suitable natural characteristics are part of the design. An existing soft front, natural arch or useful brow hairs may help keep the result familiar. Your preferred amount of definition matters more than following a single fashionable shape.

Shape, colour and technique work together

Nano Brows create hair-like detail, Powder/Ombré Brows use shading, and combination brows bring strokes and shading together. The same outline can look different depending on the technique and density. We assess the approach individually rather than assigning a technique from age or skin tone alone.

Our colour-selection guide explains how existing brow hair, skin, previous pigment and your preferences inform colour planning. You can also view a documented long-term Powder/Ombré result to understand how shading can wear.

If you already have a brow tattoo

Existing pigment may limit the shape and colour we can achieve. Drawing a new outline does not remove an old tattoo that sits outside it. Where previous work is dark, saturated or unsuitable for the desired design, lightening, removal or a staged approach may need discussion before further tattooing.

See our correction and previous-work guide for the limitations. Contact us before booking if you are unsure whether your existing work can be treated.

Preparing for your design discussion

Explain how you normally wear your brows and bring any questions about softness, colour or maintenance. Mention previous tattooing, relevant skin concerns, medication and recent treatments. Read the Pre-Care Guide and brow aftercare before your appointment.

Explore the Brow Gallery for design and result examples, or the brow FAQs for common questions. You can book treatment or an optional consultation, or contact ELKA to discuss previous work.
