Lip Blush Tattoo Perth
Wake up with naturally defined, richly toned lips every day. ELKA Clinic’s lip blush tattoo softly enhances your natural lip shape and corrects pale or uneven colour, for a fresh, your-lips-but-better result that never smudges, fades or needs reapplying.

Enhance. Correct. Simplify.
Lip blush is a cosmetic tattooing technique that deposits soft pigment across the lips to enhance their natural shape, even out colour, and add a gentle wash of tone that looks like your lips, only better. Unlike lipstick, the colour is there the moment you wake up and stays put through coffee, exercise and long days, so mornings become simpler and your smile looks effortlessly finished.
- Saves time every day
- Corrects pale or uneven lip colour
- Softly defines the natural lip border
- Suitable for mature and ageing lips
- Suitable for men wanting natural colour
- No-makeup lifestyle friendly
How long does lip blush actually last?
Two to five years for most clients, which is longer than brow or eyeliner tattoo because lips are less exposed to sun and skincare acids. Smokers, frequent exfoliators and anyone with very warm undertones tend to fade faster. Rather than disappearing suddenly it softens gradually, so a refresh every two to three years keeps it looking intentional. Our guide to the lip blush healing process covers what to expect year by year.
Will it look like I am wearing lipstick?
No, and this is the difference that surprises people most. Lip blush is a sheer wash of colour implanted into the skin, not a solid coat sitting on top of it. It reads as healthy natural pigment — the shade your lips were in your twenties — rather than makeup. If you want a bolder look you simply add lipstick over the top, and it will sit beautifully.

Touch-Up

How long is the appointment?
Allow two and a half to three hours for your first lip blush appointment. Roughly the first forty minutes is consultation, shape mapping and mixing your colour, then numbing, then two to three passes of pigment. Your perfecting session six to eight weeks later takes around ninety minutes.
What should I do in the days before?
Keep lips well moisturised for a week beforehand and gently exfoliate a couple of days prior, avoid alcohol and blood-thinning supplements for twenty-four hours, and leave at least four weeks between lip filler and lip blush. If you are prone to cold sores, speak to your doctor or pharmacist about starting an antiviral before your appointment. Full details are in how to prepare for lip blush.
Finding Your Perfect Lip Tone
The right lip blush colour depends on your skin’s undertone and your natural lip pigment, not simply your favourite lipstick shade. During your consultation we assess your undertone and design a custom blend that heals true and complements your complexion.
Warm Tones
Coral, peach and warm rose pigments suit golden or warm undertones, healing with a soft, sun-kissed glow.
Cool Tones
Soft pinks, rosewood and muted mauve pigments suit cool or pink undertones, avoiding any orange shift as they heal.
Neutral & Nude Tones
Balanced nude-pink and soft berry blends suit neutral undertones and dark or pigmented lips, correcting unevenness while looking completely natural.
Fresh pigment always looks brighter and darker than your final result. As the lips heal, colour softens considerably, settling into a natural, long-wearing tone over four to six weeks.
Why is the healed colour softer than the day I leave?
Expect the final healed result to be roughly thirty to fifty per cent softer than the moment you walk out. That is intentional. We choose a shade that looks slightly stronger than your goal on day one, knowing the surface pigment sheds and the skin settles. Judging your colour on day one is like judging a photograph before it develops.
Can naturally dark or pigmented lips be lightened?
Yes, through neutralisation. Warm corrective tones are layered to counteract grey, brown or deep purple pigmentation before any colour is added, and this almost always needs two or three sessions rather than one. The result is a more even, brighter lip rather than a dramatic colour change. Read our guide to lip colour correction.

How Lip Blush Heals
Lip blush heals in distinct colour stages, including a temporary “ghosting” phase where the colour appears to fade before returning. Here is what to expect.
Day 1
Days 2–4
Days 5–7
Week 2 (Ghosting Phase)
Weeks 3–4
Week 6
Fully Healed (6–8 weeks)
Touch-Up
Why did my colour seem to vanish in week two?
This is the ghosting phase and it is the single most common panic message we receive. After peeling, a fresh layer of skin sits over the pigment and temporarily hides it, so lips can look almost bare around day seven to fourteen. Colour resurfaces gradually and the true result appears from week four, with everything fully settled by week six.
When can I kiss, wear lipstick or drink coffee normally?
Sip through a straw and avoid very hot drinks for the first three days, keep lipstick and lip liner off until the peeling has completely finished at around day ten, and avoid kissing while the skin is still open in the first week. Spicy, salty and acidic foods will sting, so plan bland meals for a few days.
Comfort, Pigments & Safety
Does It Hurt?
Most clients describe lip blush as pressure and vibration rather than sharp pain. A strong topical numbing cream is applied before and reapplied during treatment, keeping sensation mild throughout.
Premium Pigments
We use high-quality, medical-grade cosmetic tattoo pigments formulated to heal true to tone. Vegan-friendly pigment options are available on request.
Hygiene & Sterilisation
Every treatment uses single-use sterile needles and cartridges, in a fully sanitised clinical environment.
Who Should Avoid Lip Blush
Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with active cold sores, certain skin or autoimmune conditions, or on blood-thinning medication without medical clearance. A consultation confirms suitability.
Detailed Lip Blush Aftercare
Following aftercare closely gives the best healed colour and protects your investment. Here is our complete guide.
- Apply the recommended aftercare balm regularly to keep lips lightly moisturised
- Keep lips clean and dry before applying balm
- Avoid wetting the area excessively while showering for the first few days
- Avoid makeup, lipstick and other lip products until fully healed
- Avoid swimming, saunas and heavy sweating for 7–10 days
- Avoid picking, peeling or scratching flaking skin
- Avoid spicy, salty or acidic foods that may sting freshly treated lips
- Avoid direct sun exposure and use SPF once healed to protect colour longevity
- Avoid smoking and alcohol for the first few days to support healing
- Contact the clinic if you notice signs of infection or an unexpected reaction
How do I stop my lips drying and cracking?
Keep a thin film of the ointment we provide on them at all times for the first week, reapplying with a clean cotton bud rather than your finger. Do not lick, pick or peel — licking dries lips further and pulling flakes takes pigment with them. Sleep on a clean pillowcase and drink more water than usual.
What if I am prone to cold sores?
Any lip tattoo can trigger a dormant cold sore, so this matters. Tell us at your consultation and speak to your doctor or pharmacist about an antiviral course starting a few days before and continuing after your appointment. It is a simple precaution and it protects your healed result, because an outbreak during healing can cause patchy pigment retention.
Common Misconceptions About Lip Blush
Most hesitation about lip blush comes from old lip-liner tattoos, from social media day-one photos, or from confusing it with filler. Here is what is actually true.
It is basically permanent lipstick
People picture a solid block of colour with a hard outline, which is what older lip tattooing produced.
It is a sheer tint, not a coat of colour
Pigment is diffused softly through the lip with no harsh border. The healed effect is the colour your lips had naturally when you were younger. Most people assume you simply have healthy lips, not that you are wearing anything.
Lips are far too painful to tattoo
The lips are sensitive, so it is assumed to be the most painful cosmetic tattoo of all.
Lips numb exceptionally well
Because lip tissue is highly vascular, topical anaesthetic works quickly and can be reapplied on open skin during the appointment. Most clients rate it two to four out of ten and describe a buzzing or pressure sensation rather than sharp pain.
It will make my lips bigger, like filler
Lip blush and lip filler get grouped together as the same kind of treatment.
It changes colour and definition, not volume
No product is injected and no volume is added. What lip blush does is restore the border and even out tone, and because a defined, well-coloured lip reads as fuller, the visual effect can be similar without changing your actual lip size.
Naturally dark lips cannot have lip blush
Clients with deeper or pigmented lips are often told they are not suitable candidates.
Neutralisation is designed for exactly this
Warm corrective tones are layered to balance grey, brown or purple pigmentation before colour is introduced. It takes two or three sessions rather than one, and the goal is an even, brighter lip rather than a completely different colour.
It is only for young women
Lip blush is assumed to be a trend treatment for people in their twenties.
Mature lips and men benefit most
As lips age they lose both border definition and natural colour, which is precisely what lip blush restores — our mature clients are often the happiest. Men typically choose subtle neutralisation with no added colour, simply evening out tone. See lip blush for men.
The swelling is dramatic and lasts for weeks
Photos of very swollen lips immediately after treatment circulate widely online.
Swelling peaks quickly and settles fast
Lips are puffiest in the first twenty-four to forty-eight hours, then reduce rapidly. Most clients are comfortable in public by day three. Sleeping slightly elevated and using a cool pack over a clean barrier on day one makes a noticeable difference.
Straight Answers To What Holds People Back
These are the eight concerns that come up in almost every lip blush consultation. We would rather answer them plainly here than have you wondering.
Pain
Topical numbing is applied before we begin and reapplied throughout, and lips respond to it particularly well. Most clients rate the sensation two to four out of ten. Nothing is injected and there is no cutting.
Healing and downtime
Two to three days of noticeable swelling and dryness, light peeling from day four to seven, then a ghosting phase before the colour returns. Most people work through it normally, though we would not book it two days before a wedding.
Safety and hygiene
Single-use sterile needles and cartridges, single-use pigment cups, hospital-grade surface disinfection, and a documented contraindication review covering cold sores, pregnancy, medication and medical conditions. We work to Department of Health skin-penetration standards.
Will it look natural
That is the whole brief. We map your natural lip border rather than drawing over it, and we choose a shade in your own undertone family. Erring soft is deliberate — adding depth at your perfecting session is easy, lifting an overly strong colour is not. Read does lip blush look natural.
Experience
ELKA Clinic has specialised in cosmetic tattoo in Perth since 2015, including complex work such as neutralisation, correction of previous lip tattoos and mature-lip restoration. See how to choose a cosmetic tattoo artist.
Longevity and value
Two to five years from a completed treatment, softening gradually rather than vanishing. Set against the lipstick, liner and daily reapplication it replaces, the cost per year is modest. See what lip blush costs and why.
Trust
Read our client reviews, look through the healed results gallery, then meet the team. We would rather be judged on healed photographs than day-one ones.
The result itself
Lip blush is a two-appointment treatment by design. We review your healed result at six to eight weeks and adjust colour depth, evenness and border definition then. It is finished when you and your artist are both genuinely happy.
