Do you ever see women with flawless eyebrows and wonder how they have enough time to draw their eyebrows or pluck them in just the right time? Well so do we. But let us tell you a secret: “Not all of those women have enough time to attend to their eyebrows or get themselves to the beauty salon for weekly plucking. They use a MAGIC TRICK called eyebrow micropigmentation or Nano brows. “

You might have heard of Nano brows or have someone close to you done it and now you might be wondering if it could also be appropriate for you. Well no worries. That is why we’re here today. We’ll be telling you ups and downs of Nano brows or micropigmentation to see if it is your salvation.

what is nano brows or eyebrow micropigmentation?
Nano brows AKA eyebrow micropigmentation

What is Nano brows/eyebrow micropigmentation?

Eyebrow micropigmentation is a semi-permanent make up method. In this method we deposit cosmetic pigments in the desired eyebrow shape with a device called a micropigmentation machine which has a needle-like tip. Since each individual hair stroke is drawn with a very fine needle on the micropigmentation machine, this method is also called Nano brows. With Nano brows you get very thin and crispy lines among your eyebrows similar to natural eyebrow hair.

Eyebrow micropigmentation machine
Eyebrow micropigmentation has a needle-like tip unlike microblading devices which have blades. ( stock photo ID: 1029363625 by forma82)

We call eyebrow micropigmentation semi-permanent because the pigments used in it are penetrated into the skin, therefore stay a longer time in comparison to pigments of eyebrow pencils which are put on the surface of the skin. Since the pigments are deposited into the dermal layer of the skin, not the deeper layer (similar to body tattoo), Nano brows are not everlasting.

An Eyebrow micropigmentation session usually lasts about 1:30 to 2 hours. The lesser the eyebrow hair and the oilier the skin, the longer it will take to deposit pigments into the skin.

Depending on the person’s skin type, the healing period and eyebrow shape, the recipient might need a touch up session if after this period eyebrows become patchy or faded.

Is there a difference between micropigmentation and other forms of permanent make up?

You bet there is. The main difference is the device itself. Micropigmentation device is a machine with a hand piece. Based on the treatment type and area, we can attach different types of cartridges to the hand piece. The micropigmentation machine also has a needle-like tip which goes in and out to penetrate the pigment into the skin.

In microblading which is another form of semi-permanent make up, the device has a blade-like tip.

The lasting period is also different. Nano brows last longer, approximately about 12 to 15 months, while microblading eyebrows last about 8 to 10 months.

Eyebrow micropigmentation pros

It is semi permanent

Now you might wonder how this is really an advantage. Wouldn’t it be better if it was permanent? Well not really. Your skin type and form changes as you age, so does your eyebrow hair. An eyebrow shape drawn today might not look so pretty in 2 years. Therefore, with micropigmentation you have the opportunity to redraw and correct your eyebrow shape to your liking every couple of months.

In addition to the beauty side, if Nano brows is done properly, the pigments which are outsiders, won’t enter deeper layers of the skin with Nano brows.

It saves you tons of time

Think about it. With eyebrow micropigmentation you won’t have to get up every day and wear yourself out drawing eyebrows for work or college. That’s 20 minutes extra time every day to say the least. Also there’s no weekly or monthly eyebrow plucking session for you. That’s 2 hours’ extra time weekly or monthly. Do we really need to say more?

It saves you quite a few bucks

Take all we just said for time and exchange it to cash for eyebrow kits and beauty salon fees. You pay a one-time reasonable fee and then there’s no extra fee for the next 12-15 months.  Nano brows are also friends to your wallet.

It’s appealing!

Before Eyebrow micropigmentation procedure, a professional artist draws the eyebrow shape. This means that the end result will not only be pretty individually but will also enhance all your facial features.

Eyebrow micropigmentation cons

You might be allergic to it

You might develop allergies to cosmetic pigments, since there are pigments of various brands. In that case you might experience skin redness and swelling and have to visit a doctor. However there are test patches available to check if you are allergic to the pigment in use. These test patches are usually applied behind the ear. If you are often allergic or suspect strongly that you might be allergic to eyebrow tattoo pigments, you can ask your tattoo artist to do the test.

When done improperly, you might experience infections

If proper hygiene is not applied, you might suffer bacterial infections afterwards. So it is very important to choose a standard clinic for it. You can check out the rules and regulations related to Healthy Body Art by the Australian department of health here.

How long do Nano brows last?

The lasting period of Nano brows depends on the skin type, body’s metabolism, sun exposure, whether the person takes any medication and the procedure quality. But generally Nano brows last between 12 to 15 months.

How much is eyebrow micropigmentation in Australia?

Semi-permanent make-up price differs based on the artists’ experience and material used. However, the average eyebrow micropigmentation price in Australia ranges from 400 to 1500 AUD.

Eyebrow micropigmentation price in Perth

Nano brows price in Perth could be around 400 to 1000 dollars for the initial session.

Want to know more about Nano brows?

If you still have questions unanswered about Nano brows, read on to find users’ most common questions answered.

Does micropigmentation hurt?

When the micropigmentation device touches the skin, you might feel a bit of tingling similar to when you get your eyebrows plucked or a small vibration on the skin, however there’s always the choice of using anesthetic and numbing creams for zero pain.

What is the healing process of Nano brows?

Micropigmentation healing process includes the following changes over the next 3 weeks:

  1.  Eyebrow darkening in the next 2-3 days
  2.  Eyebrow lightening after the first 4 days
  3. Scabbing over the next 2 weeks ( you can prevent the scabbing by wetting the area in the first 2 days after)
  4. Eyebrow color loss from days 7-10
  5. Eyebrow darkening and a bit of patchiness ( still 20-50 % darker than right after the treatment) after 12 days

What is micropigmentation after care?

You should wash your eyebrows with a very mild and fragrance free soap and dab it dry with soft tissues. After that you need to apply Bepanthen Cream on it 3-5 times on the first day after the micropigmentation session to keep it moisturized just enough to prevent the area from getting too dry.

You should also avoid rubbing or scratching your eyebrows, Microdermabrasion, Laser, Ipl, AHA peels, Saunas, swimming pools and make up over micropigmented eyebrows. For detailed micropigmentation/Nano brows aftercare, check out this guide.

Will my Nano brows fade?

Since the pigments used in Nano brows are cosmetic, they will slowly fade over time. Of course micropigmentation done with body tattoo ink won’t fade because the structure of body tattoo ink is different and also the pigments penetrate the deepest layers of the skin and is not recommended.

What if I don’t like my eyebrow micropigmentation?

Well that’s a tough and unpleasant question. But first off we have to tell you that there are many steps and requirements before actually penetrating the pigments into your skin and having Nano brows done. Most of these requirements are there to prevent bad micropigmentation. However, if after all is said and done you still end up with unpleasant results, there’s the option of laser tattoo removal or correction session. The best way is to remove it as soon as possible by a professional removal artist.

What’s the difference between Nano brows and eyebrow microblading?

Nano brows are a bit more expensive but last a couple of months longer. They can also be applied on any type of skin. If you still need more info to see which is for you, read Nano brows vs. microblading post.

Is there a difference between Nano brow, feather brows or powder brows?

Feather brows and powder brows are actually eyebrow styles done with a micropigmentation machine. So micropigmentation can give you both results and more based on your preference.

Do I need a Nano brows touch up session?

Depending on your skin type, the outcome of the first micropigmentation session might need some perfection or touch up. If you have one of the conditions below, then you may need a perfection session:

  • Your eyebrows look patchy.
  • Eyebrow color drastically fades due to skin’s rejection.
  • Your eyebrows are uneven.
  • You are not content with the end result. For instance, you might want a darker color or you might want to change the shape a bit.

The micropigmentation gist …

So to wrap it up in a nutshell, we must repeat that micropigmentation is also known as Nanobrows and it’s a formof eyebrow tattooing and semi-permanent make up. We call it semi permanent since the pigments are not inserted deeply into skin. So eyebrow micropigmentation is actually done in a depth shallow enough not to harm your skin and also deep enough to last for 12-15 months (this depth is called the sweet spot).

Nano brows cost between 400 to 1000 AUD on average and must be done in an experienced clinic.

If you are in need of beautiful, fully enhanced eyebrows which last for months, then Nano brows AKA eyebrow micropigmentation is definitely the best option for you.

You can also book a free consultation with Elka Clinic to make sure Nano brows are your one true hero.

If any of the mentioned above is true for you, that is probably why you have ended up here. Well fear not, you are in the right place. In this article we are going to tell you everything you need to know about eyebrow tattooing, its procedure, its price, side effects and many more tips.

What exactly is an eyebrow tattoo?

We’ve all heard of tattoos or seen pictures of tattoo designs on people’s skin. We may even have a tattoo drawn on our hand or arm ourselves. Eyebrow tattoo is exactly the same, only in it, the artist completes your eyebrow shape and with a shallower depth compared to body tattoo, meaning the pigments penetrate the surface of the dermis layer of skin. The eyebrow tattoo is done in a way that makes your eyebrows look fuller and thicker.

Eyebrow tattoo is also done with a material different from body tattoo ink, this material is called cosmetic tattoo ink or pigment. In contrast to body tattoo ink, Cosmetic tattoo ink will eventually partly fade due to its molecular structure.

Eyebrow tattoo? Microblading? Micropigmentation? Which is which?

Terribly Confused? You have every right to be. Thousands of articles online giving you different information on each, we’d be confused too. But we’re going to settle this issue for you once and for all. Any technique injecting color to your skin is a form of tattooing. So technically microblading and micropigmentation AKA nano brows are both eyebrow tattoo techniques done with different tools and conditions.

But to be more exact, take a look at images below:

Amea eyebrow micropigmentation machineeyebrow microblading tool

The micropigmentation tool (Nano brows) has a needle-like tip.
As you can see the microblading tool has a blade shaped tip.

But what about feather brows or powder brows or ombre brows?

Even after we solve the mystery of tattoo vs microblading vs micropigmentation, there’s the puzzle of feather brows vs powder brows or ombre brows vs combination brows.

But again there’s no need to get confused. Feather brows and powder brows are actually eyebrow styles. Both powder brows and feather brows can be done in microblading and micropigmentation with microblading Hand tool or micropigmentation Machine.

Feather Brows

Feather brows refer to an eyebrow style where the tattoo artist draws hair strokes in the eyebrow. This style suits clients who prefer more natural eyebrows with the impression of real hair.

Powder Brows

On the other hand, in powder brow style, the artist creates a powdery look (not hair strokes). Powder brow style is also referred to as block or solid fill method.

Ombre Brows

Ombre brows are the same as powder brows. They give your eyebrows a soft look and depending on the client’s preference it could give a shaded look to your eyebrows, making the tip of the brows lighter and the arch darker.

Combination Brows

Combination brows are actually a mixture of feather brows and powder brows. They are also called Combo Brows.

To understand the difference between Feather brows and powder brows, take a look at the illustration below:

Eyebrow styles for eyebrow tattooing

How is eyebrow tattoo done?

Eyebrow tattoo is actually a multiple session (one or two sessions) process. It may even sound overwhelming at first, but once these sessions are over, you may enjoy your new on flick eyebrows for a good 8 to 15 months, that’s right, no eyebrow kit necessary anymore.

Microblading eyebrows process
Pre-drawing eyebrow shape

Now let’s take a look at eyebrow procedure steps:

1. Eyebrow Consultation

The first step to getting your eyebrows tattooed is to have a consultation session. Some clinics do it and some don’t, but if you want our advice, stay cautious of the ones that don’t give any consultation prior to the tattoo session. After all this is a semi-permanent makeup and will be part of your face for at least 8 months. So it is pretty reasonable to consult with the tattoo artist to make sure of the material and tools they use, the eyebrow shape they suggest and the eyebrow color they recommend for you.

2. Eyebrow drawing

The second step is actually the very tattoo day itself. The tattoo artist will usually draw the final shape of the eyebrow around your current one. The lines drawn show you what the actual end result will look like. If you have any doubts or have simply gotten cold feet, this is the time to check with your artist.

3. Eyebrow tattoo

And of course the most important step, the eyebrow tattoo job itself. Some clinics use pre-numbing before starting the procedure. However, this could cause the skin to become firm and swollen and the procedure to become harder.

Instead some clinics start the procedure without numbing, and after a few passes, they use a numbing cream. This method also affects the final result and makes it more precise.

After the numbing cream kicks in (which shouldn’t take more than a couple of minutes), the main process starts and the artist draws the eyebrow shape and pattern chosen by the customer. Usually this process can take up about 1:30 to 2 hours.

4. Eyebrow perfection AKA touch up

And last but not least, the touch up session. Usually after eyebrow tattoo procedure the color will fade to some degree in the first month after. This time varies for different clients based on their skin type and hair color. Therefore another session might be required besides the main session. This session is known as the perfection or the touch up session.

Eyebrow touch up includes adjusting the eyebrow color and also applying necessary changes to eyebrow shape to make it perfect.

How long does eyebrow tattoo last?

Eyebrow tattoos can last anywhere between 8 to 15 months depending on skin type and the technique (whether it’s done by microblading or micropigmentation). Therefore technically all these techniques are semi-permanent make up methods. But to be more precise, microblading technique lasts about 8-10 months and with micropigmentation technique about 12-15 months.

How much does eyebrow tattoo cost?

Eyebrow tattoo cost varies depending on the technique being used (microblading or micropigmentation) and the experience of the artist. However, the average price for the proper technique without touch up price could be between 400-1000 AUD.

Eyebrow tattoo price in Perth

Eyebrow tattoo price in Perth, Western Australia normally starts from 400 dollars to 900 dollars. But when it comes to price, take a vital advice from us: Eyebrows are the frame to your eyes and a distinct feature of your face. So spend wisely on them and don’t choose the cheapest place.

Pay attention to the clinic’s portfolio, their hygiene and the tattoo artists’ expertise and experience. Also check out this information page on Healthy body art including semi permanent make up by the Australian Department of Health.

Frequently asked questions about eyebrow tattoo?

Can I wash my face after an eyebrow tattoo?

Yes, you can wash your face after. Actually washing your face helps remove plasma off your skin which gives you easier and better-healed results and also helps prevent scabbing. However, do this with soaps or face cleansers which are fragrance free.

Can I remove my eyebrow tattoo?

Yes, eyebrow tattoos can be removed with laser technologies. It doesn’t matter which technique was used, microblading or micropigmentation, you can rest assured that if someday you grow tired of your tattooed eyebrows, you can easily remove it by laser. To learn more about tattoo laser removal, read this article.

Do eyebrow tattoos fade?

You might have heard the term “permanent make up”, however as we mentioned above, there’s no such thing. All techniques are semi-permanent, meaning they fade over time, Unless body tattoo ink is used instead of cosmetic tattoo pigment, which is highly not recommended.

What is a 3D eyebrow tattoo?

3D eyebrow tattoo AKA eyebrow embroidery is actually the same as feathering which can be done either by microblading or nano brows machine. The tattoo artist will create hair strokes similar to real hair.

What is a semi-permanent eyebrow tattoo?

Semi-permanent eyebrow tattoo refers to all kinds of eyebrow tattoo, including microblading, micropigmentation and different eyebrow styles.

Can I choose my eyebrow shape before my eyebrow tattoo?

Yes, and to be honest, this is a must in the process. Before the tattooists start their work, they must draw the client’s eyebrow shape. If you already have eyebrow hair, the eyebrow pattern should probably match your natural shape, however if you’ve lost your eyebrow hair, you’ve got quite a ton of options to choose from. Check out these eyebrow shapes and patterns for instance.

Is eyebrow tattoo painful?

No, to be more precise, not that much. Of course in the process, the device’s blade/needle goes into the skin, but since it doesn’t go deep into the skin, the pain is similar to eyebrow plucking. The tattoo artist might also need to use a numbing gel\cream to comfort the client.

Does eyebrow tattoo have any side effects?

Some people might have an allergic reaction to their tattoo which will calm down after a while. Also without standard hygiene there could be a risk of infection. So it is important to choose a professional clinic. You can also read this article to see what you can expect after having an eyebrow tattoo done.

Conclusion, should you get an eyebrow tattoo?

So there you have it: all the details on eyebrow semi-permanent make up. Now you know that:

  • Both microblading and micropigmentation are forms of tattooing techniques done with two different devices.
  • Both techniques can give you feather, powder or combination eyebrows.

Now you might wonder if eyebrow tattooing is really the right path for you

Here’s what we recommend:

  • If your eyebrows are thin or not properly shaped …
  • Whether you are forced to take your eyebrow kit everywhere with you …

Why Is Eyebrow Tattooing for Men and Women More Costly When Done Right?

Many clients at Elka Clinic ask us:
“Why is high-quality eyebrow tattooing — whether it’s nano brows or microblading — more expensive?”

The answer is simple: good brow work isn’t cheap, and cheap brow work isn’t good. We’ve seen countless people who opted for budget eyebrow feathering elsewhere and ended up needing expensive eyebrow tattoo removal — a painful and time-consuming process. Don’t risk it.

When done professionally, eyebrow tattooing for men and women in Perth is an investment in your face. Let’s break down why.

Eyebrow Feathering Is an Art — Not Just a Procedure

High-quality brow tattooing is more than technique — it’s artistry. A skilled brow artist will design feather touch brows to suit your unique face shape.

Each person’s face is different. That’s why nano brows and microblading require an experienced hand to create a natural look.

Skin Type Matters More Than You Think

A professional artist must understand how to work with different:

  • Skin colours: fair, olive, tan, redhead
  • Skin types: dry, oily, combination
  • Skin conditions: scars, alopecia, large pores, mature skin

For example, mature skin requires special care. When a client lies down, the relaxed face can lead to uneven brow shapes if the artist isn’t careful. Only a trained professional knows how to adjust for this once the client sits up again.

👉 Learn more about how skin type affects brow results in our Fitzpatrick Skin Type Chart article.

reasons for quality eyebrow tattoo being expensive
Why high quality eyebrow tattooing is an expensive procedure?

Tools, Pigments, and Hygiene All Affect Cost

High-quality eyebrow microblading in Perth uses premium tools — and they’re mostly single-use for safety and hygiene. That includes:

  • Sterile blades or nano needles
  • Top-tier pigments for long-lasting results
  • Medical-grade numbing creams

Cheap services often skip or cut corners on these — which leads to pain, bleeding, or even damage to natural brow hair.

At Elka Clinic, we guarantee:
No pain. No blood. Safe for your natural hair.

Avoiding Pain Means the Artist Knows What They’re Doing

If you’ve heard people cry during brow tattooing or microblading, it likely means:

  • The artist used low-quality numbing cream
  • They were working at the wrong depth in the skin

When done correctly, eyebrow tattooing or feather touch brows for men and women should be comfortable and precise

There are three types of skin undertones: Neutral, Cool and Warm.

Neutral undertones show an even complexion, so the undertone aligns with your surface skin tone. These people have no distinguishable vein color and you can say if the vein looks green or blue.

Cool undertones are for people with a blueish, pink, or ruddy complexion. The veins of these people tend to show blue color .

Warm undertones describe yellow, peachy, or golden complexions. People with warm undertones typically have green colored veins.

Our skin is very complex, and there are many different factors that contribute to our unique color. Three biological chemicals determine your color:

Hemoglobin, which is red.

Melanin, which is your skin’s sun protection agent and is brown or red-yellow.

Carotene, which is orange-yellow.

It turns out that the amount of melanin in your main skin layer determines your undertone. The less melanin you have, the more your veins will show as blue, and the cooler complexion you’ll have.

The more melanin you have, the more your veins will show as green, and the warmer complexion you’ll have.

The amount of hemoglobin and carotene you have determines the variation in your undertone.

So why do we advice to choose the pigment colour for eyebrow tattoo based on natural hair (or eyebrows hair) rather than skin undertones?

  1. First, many people will misinterpret the skin undertone .
  2. Secondly some eyebrow tattoo clients sit more in sun than others..

Melanin sits in the lower layer of the epidermis and just on top of the dermis where we implant Permanent Make-up. Therefore the colour of the pigment can be affected by the skin undertone, correct depth and pigments quality. It’s also the thickness of the epidermis that affects our healed results as well as amount of bleeding during the procedure.

Permanent tattoos colours on the other hand are always affected by melanin concentration since they are done much deeper into the dermis.

Let me know if you have any question regarding this post? 🙂

If you’re a teenager or a young adult, one of the biggest worries you may be facing is the appearance of acne or pimples.

With changing hormones and growing up pangs, teenage and adolescence brings in quite a lot of changes for both boys and girls, some of it showing up in the form of acne and other skin issues.

Though acne and pimples are mainly associated with teenagers, today, almost anyone can have a mark on their face, an adult pimple or acne scars that refuse to go away. There are various types of acne and each requires specific treatment and products.

The following will help you understand what type of acne you have, so that you can select the treatment that will work best for you:

Different Types of Acne

1. Blackheads:

These types of acne are extremely common and are usually seen on the nose and nasal area. They look like tiny areas of black lumps on the skin, which are formed as a result of blocked follicles.

The black lumps are usually formed when bacteria, dead skin and harmful substances clog the follicles and reach the surface. These react with the oxygen present in the air and result in the appearance of blackheads.

2. Whiteheads:

These are white spots on the skin that are, in fact, oil glands. Due to excessive oil production, the glands are clogged with oil and covered by skin. As a result, the oil cannot reach the surface and is trapped between the skin layers, resulting in the appearance of white spots.

3. Papules:

Papules are types of acne that are inflamed and appear as small red dots or bumps on the skin. These may or may not be sensitive to touch, but refrain from picking on the rashes, as it can result in scars.

4. Pustules:

Pustules are inflamed types of acne that are hard to touch and are usually filled with pus. These appear as white spots and the center is mostly pale yellow. Refrain from picking or bursting, as it can lead to permanent scarring or leave dark spots.

5. Nodules:

These are some of the more severe types of acne which are much larger than papules or pustules. A nodule is a painful and inflamed bump. It doesn’t have pus and is hard to touch. This can only be cured by proper medical treatment and usually requires the use of strong medicines.

6. Cysts:

Acne that is deep, appears big, and is pus filled, is called a cyst. It is quite painful to touch and needs immediate attention from a doctor.

All the skin outbreaks listed above are different forms of Acne Vulgaris- which is the most common form of acne that we see on a regular basis.

Other than the above, there are many different and severe types of acne as well:

7. Acne Fulminans:

This type of acne is seen in young men. It is accompanied by symptoms like fever and joint ache and thus leaves scars.

8. Acne Mechanica:

It originates as a result of excessive heat and friction between the skin. It is usually seen in people involved in sports or those who wear helmets, caps or sports gear for prolonged periods of time on a regular basis.

9. Acne Rosacea:

This is quite similar to acne vulgaris. It appears as a red colored rash on the cheek and chin.

10. Pyoderma Faciale:

This is a severe type of acne and is a combination of nodules and pustules. It is generally seen among women between the ages of 20 to 40.

11. Acne Conglobata:

This is the severest type of acne which is seen in both male and females. It appears as a large lesion on the skin which is interconnected and usually affects the chest, upper arms, face, thighs and buttocks. This is a rare type of acne and often leads to skin damage and permanent scars.

Now that you’ve got a fair idea of the various kinds of acne, do be careful when the rashes appear next time. Remember not to pick or scratch, as it may lead to permanent scarring. And if the rashes persist, make sure you get some medical attention.

In order to achieve the best results after Nano brows and eyebrow microblading procedures, it is best to follow the eyebrow tattooing before and after care instructions.

In this post, we’ve prepared important issues in Nano-brows and eyebrow microblading before and after care instructions:

Before Care Instructions for Nano Brows & Eyebrow Microblading

Getting ready for your Nano-Brows or Eyebrow Microblading appointment? Proper preparation ensures the best results, minimizes discomfort, and enhances the longevity of your new brows. Follow these before-care instructions to ensure you’re all set for a successful and satisfying experience.

1. Avoid Caffeine and Alcohol

  • Why: Caffeine and alcohol can thin your blood, increasing the risk of bleeding and bruising during the procedure.
  • Tip: Refrain from consuming them at least 24 hours before your appointment.

2. Skip Blood Thinners

  • Avoid: Aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, or any supplements that thin the blood.
  • When: At least 48 hours before your treatment.
  • Note: Consult with your doctor if you’re on prescription medications.

3. Avoid Tanning and Sun Exposure

  • Why: Tanned or sunburned skin is more sensitive, making the procedure uncomfortable and affecting pigment absorption.
  • How Long: Stay out of direct sunlight for at least one week before your appointment.

4. Do Not Wax, Thread, or Tweeze

  • Why: You want your brows in their natural state, so the artist has a clear view of your natural shape and hair growth.
  • When: Avoid any hair removal methods at least 7 days before your appointment.

5. Discontinue Retinol and Skin Treatments

  • Why: Retinol and exfoliating treatments can make your skin more sensitive, leading to potential irritation during the procedure.
  • Tip: Stop using these products at least 2 weeks before your appointment.

6. Stay Hydrated

  • Why: Hydrated skin is more supple, making it easier for the pigment to be absorbed.
  • Tip: Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your session.

7. Avoid Facial Treatments

  • Avoid: Chemical peels, microdermabrasion, laser treatments, or any facial treatments at least 2 weeks before your session.
  • Why: These treatments can irritate your skin and affect the microblading process.

8. Come with Clean Skin

  • Tip: Cleanse your face and avoid applying makeup, lotions, or creams on the day of your appointment.
  • Why: This helps the artist work with a clean canvas, ensuring the best results.

9. Plan Your Schedule

  • Avoid: Booking important events right after the procedure, as there may be redness, swelling, or peeling during the healing process.
  • Tip: Schedule your appointment at least 7-10 days before any significant events.

FAQs

Q1: Can I work out before my microblading appointment?
Avoid working out on the day of your procedure, as increased sweating can interfere with the process.

Q2: Can I take painkillers before my appointment?
It’s best to avoid painkillers like aspirin or ibuprofen, as they can thin your blood. If needed, take acetaminophen instead.

Q3: How long before my appointment should I avoid alcohol and caffeine?
Avoid them for at least 24 hours before your appointment.

Aftercare Instructions for Nano Brows & Eyebrow Microblading

Congratulations on your new Nano Brows or Eyebrow Microblading! Proper aftercare is essential to ensure your brows heal beautifully and retain their stunning look. Follow these aftercare instructions carefully to maximize the longevity and appearance of your new brows.

1. Gently Cleanse Your Brows for the First 24 Hours

  • Why: It’s essential to remove plasma from the surface of the skin to prevent it from drying and causing heaviness or damage to the eyebrows.
  • How: Wash your brows 3 to 4 times with a gentle soap, such as baby soap, on the first day. This helps maintain cleanliness and supports proper healing.

2. Avoid Touching or Scratching

  • Why: Your brows may feel itchy or tender as they heal, but touching them can introduce bacteria and cause infections.
  • Tip: If you experience itching, gently tap around the brows with clean hands rather than scratching.

3. Apply the Recommended Ointment

  • What: Your technician will provide you with a specific ointment to aid in the healing process.
  • How Often: Apply a thin layer with clean hands 2-3 times a day or as instructed by your artist.
  • Note: Don’t over-apply, as too much ointment can clog pores and delay healing.

4. Avoid Direct Sun Exposure

  • Why: UV rays can cause the pigment to fade and affect the healing process.
  • Tip: If you need to be outdoors, wear a hat or use a gentle sunscreen (after the initial healing phase) to protect your brows.

5. Say No to Sweating and Exercising

  • Why: Sweat contains salt, which can draw out the pigment from your skin.
  • Tip: Avoid vigorous activities for at least 7-10 days to ensure the pigment settles properly.

6. Refrain from Makeup and Facial Products

  • Why: Makeup and skincare products can cause irritation or infection on the healing area.
  • Duration: Avoid using these products on or around your brows for at least 10 days.

7. Don’t Pick at Scabs or Flaking

  • Why: Scabbing and flaking are natural parts of the healing process. Picking at them can cause uneven pigment retention and possible scarring.
  • Tip: Allow the scabs to fall off naturally for the best results.

8. Avoid Swimming, Saunas, and Hot Showers

  • Why: Excess moisture and heat can disrupt the healing process and cause the pigment to fade.
  • Duration: Avoid these activities for at least 10 days post-procedure.

9. Sleep on Your Back

  • Why: Sleeping on your side or stomach can put pressure on your brows, potentially affecting the healing process.
  • Tip: Use a clean pillowcase and sleep on your back to protect your brows while they heal.

10. Be Patient with the Healing Process

  • What to Expect: The healing process can take 4-6 weeks. You may notice color changes, scabbing, and lightening – this is normal. Your brows will soften and lighten as they heal.

FAQs

Q1: How long does the healing process take?
The full healing process typically takes about 4-6 weeks, but you’ll notice most changes within the first 10-14 days.

Q2: When can I resume my regular skincare routine?
After about 10 days, you can gradually return to your normal skincare routine, avoiding harsh products around the brow area.

Q3: Is it normal for my brows to look darker after the procedure?
Yes, your brows will appear darker initially but will lighten by about 30-40% as they heal.

For a long time, microblading has been the best option for anyone wanting nice and defined hair strokes on eyebrows. But now, there is a new trend at permanent make up industry that is developing very quickly and getting more popular very quickly.

As both microblading and Nano brows techniques are similar in procedure and end result, it can be difficult to know the difference between Microblading and Nano Brows and, more importantly, know which one is right for you.

So, we’ve decided to give you some information on what each technique involves in order to help you decide which one suits you the best.

What is microblading?

Microblading is a form of semi-permanent eyebrow embroidery that will enhance the look of your eyebrows, with making it fuller, more define, darker, longer or thicker… .

Microblade hand tool is a device like a pencil, and at the tip the artist attaches a very fine blade which is a collection of around 10 to 16 fine needles and it will deliver pigment into the skin.

Once the scratches have manually been made, pigment is left on the skin for a few minutes before being wiped off and a good microblading artist will build up the shape and hair strokes very slowly and properly.

What are nano brows?

Also known as nano needling or micropigmentation, nano brows are created with one single super fine needle and a permanent makeup device. it’s different with tattoo machine and the procedure won’t be as intense or painful as tattooing! And the device will penetrate the pigment into the skin.

So, what’s the difference between Microblading and Nano Brows?

Overall, both microblading and nano brows will give a very similar end result. But there are a few differences that need to be consider.

As microblading and Nano brows penetrate the pigment in a different way into the skin, the result of Nano last for a longer time and we recommend Nano brows (micropigmentation) if someone has one of these factors:

  • Oily skin
  • thick skin
  • dark skin tone
  • previous old tattoo

But if a person does not have any of the above factors and has a thin, light & dry skin, he or she can choose microblading.

You’ll get a more effective result from nano brows procedure in comparison with microblading as Nano brows treatment will LAST LONGER on any skin types. Nano Brows come with the benefits of offering a more natural and crisp result as well specially if some one has oily skin.

Price wise, microblading is the least expensive option and usually available for $100-$200 less than nano brows. However, while the results of your microblading procedure can be expected to last between 8-12 months, the results of  nano brows can last 5-6 months longer.

It’s important for you to do your own research to figure out which option is best for you in terms of what you’re looking for. If you need any assistance, get in touch with our team and we’d be honored to share our insights with you.

Will Microblading or Nano Brows hurt?

We use a medical grade numbing cream which is only available for clinical use and usually client don’t feel anything, but with some sensitive people who have a low pain tolerance they will feel a bit like brow wax or tweezing, but this case we have a numbing gel which is for during treatment we can apply that one and wait 2-3 minute then your eyebrows will be painless again

How long does Microblading or Nano Brows take?

It’s important to see microblading and nano brows as an art form. Drawing eyebrow hair storkes in one by one and is not something that can, or should, be rushed.

Procedures for both techniques usually last around 1:30 to 2 hours and that includes the time of numbing cream, designing and preparing for the eyebrows that you’ve always dreamed of.

How long does it take to heal?

If the artist is doing the proper job just with very sensitive skin you might get a bit redness or swelling for maximum 2-3 hours after treatment. otherwise it won’t be something weird or too dark that you need to get off from work. if you look at our Gallery all the photos are take immediately after procedure and there is barely swelling or redness. you will notice quite a few changes as you heal. It’s totally normal to see a bit of scabbing and flaking for the first week but usually does not happen with our clients at ELKA Clinic. Your eyebrows should be completely healed in 2 weeks time and to have settled into their colour after around four weeks. for more info about after care and healing please click here to read before & after care article.

How do I get started?

If it helps, find some photos of people with your ultimate “eyebrow goals” and show them to your technician to explain just what you want.

Here ELKA Clinic we have a online booking that allows you to choose a convenient time for yourself . Click here for booking

With Both nano and microblading although pigments will fade in the skin during the time, but still some molecules will always stay in the skin! So because of that, legally we have to call it permanent makeup! (And calling them semi permanent is not correct)

How Deep Should Microblading Be Done?

Microblading is an art, and the depth of each stroke is crucial. Understanding how deep should microblading be can make a significant difference in the results.

Why Depth Matters in Microblading

The correct depth for microblading is very shallow, just into the upper dermis. Going too deep can cause:

  • Blowouts or smudged pigment
  • Scarring
  • Grey or unnatural tones

Shallow vs. Deep Microblading

Understanding microblading depth helps you make informed decisions:

  • Shallow feathering technique: Safe, precise, and natural-looking. Perfect for eyebrow tattooing that heals cleanly.
  • Too deep: May cause scarring, pigment spreading, and unnatural appearance.

At ELKA CLINIC, we use a shallow microblading technique for all clients to ensure flawless results. This approach directly addresses questions of how deep should microblading be.

How ELKA CLINIC Ensures Perfect Depth

All our brow work is done by experienced senior technicians using the latest techniques. We focus on:

  • Shallow strokes in the upper dermis
  • Crisp, hair-like lines for natural brows
  • Safe, comfortable treatments with long-lasting results

Curious about the process? Check out our Microblading Services or view our Gallery for before-and-after results.

Here you can see through a microscope image what the naked eye cannot see, illustrating the precise answer to how deep microblading should be.

deep vs shallow eyebrow microblade image

On the right side of the picture we have a result of a deep microblading scratch. This scratch is in the dermis layer of skin. In the left picture we have the result of a shallow microblading scratch. This is at the top of the epidermis layer of skin.

That’s what happens when you get too deep into tissue when microblading. We can easily tell that with the deeper scratch the hair strokes will look blurry and greyish after healing time.

The difference between tattoo ink and cosmetic tattoo pigment: Understanding the nuances of Tattoo ink VS Cosmetic tattoo Pigment can be crucial for both tattoo artists and clients.

Ink is made with a lot bigger molecules and the body can not brake it down. That’s why it lasts forever!

Where the pigments are made with a lot smaller molecules and your body is able to brake it down, and that’s why it fades in years.

This the main difference between tattoo ink and cosmetic tattoo pigment.

The problem is as we get older the skin changes. But tattoo ink still stays in the same place. So it Could end up with dropping brows.

Here is the Microscope image of tattoo ink and white blood cells. which are a lot bigger and white blood cells are not able to break them.
