Microblading or Nano Brows: Which is for you?
Updated: Oct 22, 2019
For a long time, microblading has been the best option for anyone wanting nice and defined hair strokes on eyebrows. But now, there is a new trend at permanent make up industry that is developing very quickly and getting more popular very quickly.
As both microblading and Nano brows techniques are similar in procedure and end result, it can be difficult to know the difference and, more importantly, know which one is right for you.
So, we’ve decided to give you some information on what each technique involves in order to help you decide which one suits you the best.
What is microblading?
Microblading is a form of semi-permanent eyebrow embroidery that will enhance the look of your eyebrows. with making it fuller, more define, darker, longer or thicker...
Microblade hand tool is a device like a pencil, and at the tip the artist attach a very fine blade which is a collection of around 10 to 16 fine needles and it will deliver pigment into the skin. Once the scratches have manually been made, pigment is left on the skin for a few minutes before being wiped off and a good microblading artist will build up the shape and hair strokes very slowly and properly.
What are nano brows?
Also known as nano needling or micropigmentation, nano brows are created with one single super fine needle and a permanent makeup device. it's different with tattoo machine and the procedure won't be as intense or painful as tattooing! And the device will penetrate the pigment into the skin.
So, what’s the difference?
Overall, both microblading and nano brows will give a very similar end result. But there are a few differences that need to be consider.
As microblading and Nano brows penetrate the pigment in a different way into the skin, the result of Nano last for a longer time. and we recommend Nano brows (micropigmentation) if someone has one of these factors:
Oily skin ,thick skin, dark skin tone, previous old tattoo.
but if a person does not have any of the above factors and has a thin, light & dry skin can choose microblading.
You’ll get a more effective result from nano brows procedure in comparison with microblading as Nano brows treatment will LAST LONGER on any skin types. Nano Brows comes with the benefits of offering a more natural and crisp result as well specially if some one has oily skin.
Price wise, microblading is the least expensive option and usually available for $100-$200 less than nano brows. However, while the results of your microblading procedure can be expected to last between 8-12 months, the results of a nano brows can last 5-6 months longer.
It’s important for you to do your own research to figure out which option is best for you in terms of what you’re looking for. If you need any assistance, get in touch with our team and we’d be honoured to share our insights with you.
Will it hurt?
We use a medical grade numbing cream which is only available for clinical use and usually client don't feel anything, but with some sensitive people who have a low pain tolerance they will feel a bit like brow wax or tweezing, but this case we have a numbing gel which is for during treatment we can apply that one and wait 2-3 minute then your eyebrows will be painless again
How long does it take?
It’s important to see microblading and nano brows as an art form. drawing eyebrow hair storkes in one by one and is not something that can, or should, be rushed.
Procedures for both techniques usually last around 1:30 to 2 hours and that includes the time of numbing cream, designing and preparing for the eyebrows that you’ve always dreamed of.
How long does it take to heal?
If the artist is doing the proper job just with very sensitive skin you might get a bit redness or swelling for maximum 2-3 hours after treatment. otherwise it won't be something weird or too dark that you need to get off from work. if you look at our Gallery all the photos are take immediately after procedure and there is barely swelling or redness. you will notice quite a few changes as you heal. It’s totally normal to see a bit of scabbing and flaking for the first week but usually does not happen with our clients at ELKA Clinic. Your eyebrows should be completely healed in 2 weeks time and to have settled into their colour after around four weeks. for more info about after care and healing please click here

With Both nano and microblading although pigments will fade in the skin during the time, but still some molecules will always stay in the skin! So because of that, legally we have to call it permanent makeup! (And calling them semi permanent is not correct)
